Happy Birthday Koko!!!

Hello to all our furry friends, Piappies Mommy here. Allow me to take over the Piappies blog for today. You might be wondering what the photo above is all about. Are these the fave stuffies of the Piappies? Hmmm... are these ALL stuffies? Do you notice that there is one that is NOT a stuffie? You're right, that's Koko you see in the middle.

Now, who is Koko, you might ask. Koko is the puppy that I've dedicated this blog to and today is the best day to tell you all about him.

On February 24, 1985, Koko came to our home as a gift to my brother. He was very playful, sweet and loving. We instantly fell in love with him.

Our Mom would take him for car rides when she'd pick us up from school. He loved looking out the car window and feel the wind on this face. He had his OWN space on our bed, he loved baths, playing with toys --- chewing on our watches (!), getting tummy rubs and even being groomed. He enjoyed doing fun things ---

we watched our favorite shows on TV

he entertained us with his dancing moves

and even agreed to wear a dress and a ribbon for the flashy box! Silly Koko!

We grew up together --- Koko was my constant companion. For years, he never got tired of waiting for me to come home, staying by my side when I was sick, protecting me from strangers (ok, maybe he was just being possessive) and just being his adorable self.

Koko was also a loving and protective dad to his son Kiko. At that time, we also had a poodle, YumYum, that completed their trio. They all provided lots of laughter and love in our home.

After sharing nine wonderful years with Koko, he crossed over the rainbow bridge on July 15, 1994. I was heartbroken and I thought I would not be able to get over his loss.

Up until the Piappies found us and made our home their furever world. I've come to realize that memories of Koko never fade. I still remember the fun times we had and it sure brings a smile on my face.

Now, I take the chance to thank you, furry friends and hoomans for accepting our friendship and allowing us to share our fun adventures together. Reading your stories become constant reminders that furry friends indeed prove the power of unconditional love and giving back the love and care is the least we can do for them. We share this love with all of you as well.

Happy Happy Birthday, My Dearest Koko!
Thank you so much for being part of my growing up years.
I may not see you running and dancing anymore but you live furever in my heart.
Watch over the Piappies and all our furry friends. Love you furever!

  1. What a wonderful tribute! Mom and Dad keep the ashes and a framed photo of each of their furry family members who have crossed the bridge, and while I know it is hard for them at first, I notice that as each day passes, Mom and Dad look at the table and smile. I think they would definitely agree with you that the pain fades and the happy memories remain.

  16. Oh Koko looked like such a sweetie. It's good to read about old dogs that kept our Humans happy before we came about. Both my Humans had their own dogs before me and I hear about them all the time.

Maybe Snowy and Simba are playing with Koko right now?

  42. Grrrr. Our browser quit just as we were sending off our comment to you!

    What did we say?

Something about what a wonderful little dog Koko was - especially important because he opened up your heart to the love of doggies, led you to Piappies, and led you to your friends in the blogging world. What a very special legacy! Perhaps one of the greatest! Because of Koko you know the love of a dog, and of the love that thousands like you share.

We're sure Koko celebrated his birthday in a grand way, with others who passed over the bridge before and after him. He waits. With a tail way and a proud smile.

Thank you for sharing this wonderful tribute.

  47. Oh this is such a loving tribute for a very dear pet. I got teary eyed. Sometimes, the best way to overcome grief from losing a dearly beloved pet is to celebrate and relive their lives while here on earth.
